Am trying to stick my battery monitor on the console near the handbrake in the Pajero, and it doesnt stick.

Is anyone aware of a tape that will stick (not allowed to drill holes in the Paj)

Brian,

I have some sticky Velcro 2 piece that sticks like S%$t to a blanket. Its from 3M, can't remember where I got it from, possibly Bunnings. Works on my dash and console and allows you to remove the item if needed.

Supercheap Auto sells stick on velcro tabs in a kit. Be sure to wipe the area with some metho or damp cloth first to get any Armour all off, other wise you'll have buckleys of getting it to stick.!

Had the same problem with my pajero dash.
The dash has an oily coating, so give it a wipe with some meths first, then it sticks well.

Yellow 'Blu-tack'

Amazing even after 4 years, corrugations, Birdsville, sun etc.

My GPS sits tight.

Make sure to clean the surface so it sticks.

the trick is: ISO-PROPOYL ALCOHOL - you can buy it in Bunnings where the cleaning products are for about $6 for a small bottle. A few sprays on the dash and on the back of whatever you are sticking down and a quick wipe and you're ready to go.

I use this cleaning method and heavy duty double sided tape (again from Bunnings) to fix my mic holders to the dash and it works a treat.

Double sided velcro is also good if you want to be able to remove things. BUT it will only work if you clean both surfaces before you stick it on.

Good luck

Ben

Additional question but on topic:
When it is time to remove the item and the tape, how do you get all the goo off the dash? Is there a cleaning poduct that will do it well?

Eucalyptus oil gets the sticky stuff off but it can be damaging to plastics (it's usually sold in a glass bottle for that reason). Metho can also do the trick but you can also stuff called "De-Solve It" (which you can also get at Bunnings). It's citrus based and is much gentler on plastics, etc.

Thanks everybody for the ideas, very much appreciated.

also like the yellow tack, as we had big problems a couple of years up the top end with the sun melting every type of sticky around when putting the GPS on the dash of the Navara

There is also a double sided tape out now called Ultra Bond by Clingtape. I just recently bought some and, after using the usual types which peel off shortly after attaching, leaving a nasty sticky strip on the surface of walls/doors etc., I have found this tape does what it's supposed to do.
A few weeks ago, I used it to attach a plastic freezer bag holder to the inside of a laminated cupboard door and it is still there, despite being yanked on every time I need to pull a bag off. When I used the older type of tape first up, the device just pulled away from the door the first time I used it.
I think I bought it at Bunnings but I can't swear to it, oldtimers, doncha know.
Sheila.

P.S. Shellite will remove a lot of glues/sticky stuff, too.
